Original Collage Saint Hildegard

Saint Hildegard often spoke of "viriditas"- a Latin word meaning "greening power." To her, this was the divine life-force present in all creation-- plants, people, your soul. Greening was physical and spiritual. Just as plants grow and flourish with water and light, the soul thrives with God's grace. 

She reminds us that holiness is alive, growing, connected to nature and the body. To be truly alive was to be spiritually green.
