About

I create collages that explore the intersection of faith and pop culture, inspired by what it means to be an “icon” and themes of “image.”

“Icon” once referred to sacred religious figures, but today is more often linked to celebrity and fashion, whatever can garner flash and attention. Similarly, “image” is something we often obsess over, while the saints exemplify being made in the image of God.

These collages have become my personal attempt to assuage the tension between appreciating fashion and glamour that’s fun, artistic, and communicates style in an authentic and connective way & the steady endless stream of a more empty consumerism that I also suffer from. Using materials from fashion magazines- the glossy, glitzy symbols of modern culture- I reimagine them in the service of the saints- giving some glam to those deserving gals!

My work brings together the saintly women of history and original saints that I create to explore different holy themes. They are vibrant and shiny, designed to catch the eye on a surface level and also speak to something with deeper meaning. I hope they illuminate the love I have for the people I’ve made them for or about. I also hope they make spiritual concepts accessible and compelling so that the viewer might see holiness through a different lens, and that the stories about each one will resonate too.
